Our interest is in events, ships, skills, strategies, risks and people, whether sailors or designers, across wide-ranging naval, merchant marine and maritime history. Established in 1998, the Group covers any and every aspect of Naval History, ensuring fascinating content to our monthly meetings. In addition to occasional external expert speakers, Group members volunteer to give short talks to reflect their personal interests in topics, currently including Nelson and Slavery, The Coal Black Sea, HMS Antelope, The Ships of D-Day and Woking’s Warship.

Some of the Naval History Group’s current 24 members ‘mock’ saluting in appreciation of the extensive contribution of the Group Leader, Robert Allen, stepping down after at least 12 years at his post. December 2025.
