Woking Area u3a

Woking Area u3a was founded in 1993 and has more than 85 interest groups, meeting all over the borough. Have a look at the Groups Programme to see if anything attracts you.

Anyone can become a member. We have a £10 annual subscription fee and a small charge for each session. You can attend one u3a session for free as a ‘taster’, as long as the Group Leader has space. To join, see the Join/Renew tab.

Interest groups are organised by volunteers helped by members who also volunteer to help run the sessions they join. In addition to our interest groups, we hold a general meeting every second Monday of the month with a variety of speakers. Check out the General Meeting Schedule.

The National u3a

The u3a is a membership organisation open to anyone who is no longer working full-time but is still keen to learn for fun as well as share skills.

This UK-wide movement comprises more than 1,000 like-minded charities. Each one is a self-funded, self-managed, self-help, non-political, non-religious community run by volunteers.

You don’t need a qualification and there are no exams. You can also join more than one u3a if you find different interest groups elsewhere.

The national u3a also runs Interest Groups Online, an online platform for collaborative learning, to which you can subscribe. There are around 70 groups that meet online across a wide range of subjects. See the Links tab.
