About Volunteering
The u3a is an organisation run by volunteers. If there were no volunteers, there would be no u3a. It’s as simple as that!

There are many benefits to being a volunteer as well as the positive impact it has for our members. It can give a feeling of being part of a team, a brain work-out and the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped many people. Our volunteers have many more reasons to put their hand up….

If you would like to join us, please contact Email: Volunteer Liaison

In addition to those shown in the Roles and Vacancies chart on this page, many group leaders look for volunteers to help with the running of their group. Please ask the individual group leader if you can help.

Committee Vacancies
Do you enjoy belonging to our u3a? Would you like to feel more deeply involved, enjoy opening up to connect with different people and feel proud you are helping the organisation to function well as part of the committee team? Perhaps you have experience in helping to run a charity committee or maybe you are an enthusiastic individual keen to learn and develop into a committee role. Either way, that’s great and we need you!

Any of the roles can be shared between 2 members if that’s your preference. If you know someone who would like to share with you that’s brilliant. However, if you don’t we may be able to match you up with a similar minded member – a great opportunity to make a friend!

If you feel anyone of the following vacancies is of interest to you, please Email: Volunteer Liaison to find out more.

Vice Chair
Primarily to assist the chair in their activities and stand in for them when absent, this role can also include a variety of different kinds of jobs that don’t fall into anyone else’s realm. They say variety is the spice of life! For more details, please take a look at the vice chair role. The vice chair may become the chair in time, but history tells us this is definitely not mandatory

Group Coordinator
Do you enjoy bringing people together and helping ideas flourish? We’re looking for a friendly, organised volunteer to support our u3a groups. You’ll help new groups get started, keep existing ones thriving, and be the go-to person for members with exciting ideas. It’s a rewarding role where you’ll make a real difference to our u3a – and have plenty of fun along the way! For more information see the Group Co-ordinator role.
